Full indictment in Hariri case ready on February 6

The office of the STL Prosecutor revealed Wednesday that the finishing touches are being put on the amended indictment in the assassination of late Rafic Hariri, adding that the final version will be ready on February 6.

This as Pre-Trial Judge Daniel Fransen was faced with an implicit consensus between the Prosecution and the Defense to postpone the trial set for March 25. He said that he will take a decision in this regard.

Fransen stressed that the disclosure of evidence and telecom data is essential, adding that he will make sure this happens. He also said that he will intervene with the Lebanese authorities to fulfill the Defense’s demands, stressing that the Defense has started working a year ago; “this must be taken into consideration.”

In this regard, the Defense justified the postponement request, saying that there is further evidence to be disclosed. “There are obstacles facing the disclosure of evidence and data.”

In response, the Prosecution announced that it does not object to some of the justifications, but warned against setting yet another deferrable date. “We revealed over 115,000 pages of evidence and telecom data and further reports will be disclosed.”
