Zoghbi to LBCI: Syrian regime took advantage of Rai’s visit

March 14 general-secretariat member Elias Zoghbi said on Monday that attacking the Lebanese army is a dangerous incident which does not have any political gains or interests.

In an interview with Nharkom Said, Zoghbi warned against the repercussions of political exploitation of the Arsal incident, stressing that the Christians do not have any interest in being a side in the conflict with the Sunni community in Lebanon and the region.

Commenting on the visit of Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai to Syria, Zoghbi noted that the visit is explicitly religious and spiritual, but the Syrian regime used it in its favor, pointing out that Rai could have sent a representative to attend the ceremony.
