Nahhas to LBCI: Government tries to control situation to maintain stability

Economy and Trade Minister Nicolas Nahhas stressed on Sunday that there are deep disputes between the Lebanese people over the role of state’s apparatuses and components, noting that Lebanon is currently under the Taif system placed during a specific period which has changed. He said that the government is trying to control the situation in order to maintain stability.

In an interview with Nharkom Said, Nahhas called on all the Lebanese parties and people to hold dialogue amid this critical situation, mainly concerning the electoral law issue which is considered an essential matter.

On the other hand, the minister stressed the need to find a ground of understanding over the funding of the ranks and salaries scale, explaining that the scale is divided into seven different parts, each of which requires accurate study, because the economy can face variations during the current situation.

“No strike or escalation can make us take a decision that would harm our future, the pay scale will be approved but everyone must understand that this is a critical and dangerous issue,” he said.
