LAF arrest man on charges of creating strife in Tripoli

The Lebanese Army Command declared on Thursday that, due to the growing phenomenon of throwing grenades in the streets of Tripoli, the Intelligence Directorate conducted intensive investigations revealing the identity of one of the perpetrators who was identified as Lebanese citizen Ahmad Bassem al-Jajatiyah. The suspect was arrested on the 25th of February 2013 in the city of Tripoli, and has confessed, during interrogations, that he was recruited by Z. S. to throw dynamites and hand grenades in Bab al-Tebbaneh, in order to incite chaos in the already volatile area, as well as in the streets between Bab al-Tebbaneh and Jabal Mohsen.

The arrestee also admitted to receiving an amount of LBP 20 thousand on a daily basis in exchange for his services. Investigations are ongoing to reveal the identities of the other accomplices.

In this context, the LAF Command called on all citizens to cooperate with the troops deployed in Tripoli, and to inform the army and the security forces of any suspicious behavior.
