Zougheib: Liwaa Asifat al-Chmal’s statement is reassuring

     
Ali Zougheib's son stressed on Saturday that the last statement issued by Liwaa Asifat al-Chmal, which called for the release of the women detained in Syrian prisons in exchange of the nine detainees held in Aazaz, reassured slightly their families.           

In parallel, Zougheib said that the families were braced for referring this demand to the Syrian regime in case Liwaa Asifat al-Chmal issues an official clarification in regards to the statement.            

In this context, Zougheib said that the families of the nine detainees hailed the Qatari-Turkish mediation, pointing out that Turkey will settle the issue in any possible mean.    

Sources told LBCI that the Lebanese official authorities did not comment on the statement issued by Liwaa Asifat al-Chmal since they are awaiting further contacts.         

It is noteworthy that the detainees’ last call to their families dates more than two months ago.     

The eleven Lebanese pilgrims were kidnapped on their way back from Iran by insurgents hoping to use them for a prisoner swap on the 20th of May. Only two have so far been released.
