After sandstorm, hail batters Lebanon

Strong winds and sandstorms battered Lebanon Friday just one day into the spring season. The gusty winds are believed to have come from the West African Sahara.

The photo above captures the sandstorm in action crossing Achrafieh toward Dekwaneh. Reports state that the storm just reached North Lebanon affecting the Jounieh coastal area, Batroun, Chekka and Tripoli.

Citizens are advised to drive cautiously especially on the coastal roads under the bleak weather conditions with visibility dropping as the sandstorm progresses.

Heavy rain and hail ensued the sandstorm, and are expected to last throughout the evening.
