Kerry urges Tehran to free Iranian-American Christian

US Secretary of State John Kerry urged Iran to free an Iranian-American Christian pastor who was sentenced to eight years in jail in January.

Kerry issued a statement whereby he said he was “deeply concerned” about the fate of Saeed Abedini, who has already been held for six months in Iran’s Evin prison.

“I am also disturbed by reports that Mr Abedini has suffered physical and psychological abuse in prison, and that his condition has become increasingly dire,” Kerry added in the statement.
