Abi Ramia to LBCI: Jumblatt’s position is the most important

Change and Reform bloc MP Simon Abi Ramia said on Wednesday that mystery is surrounding the current events related to the designation of a new prime minister.              

In an interview with LBCI's Nharkom Said, Abi Ramia noted that the issue of the formation of a new cabinet will become clearer as of Thursday, pointing out that the position of MP Walid Jumblatt “is the most important during this stage since it is the balance in this matter.”                 

In this context, the MP said that the March 8 alliance will commit to one name which they will propose during the consultations on Friday, adding that they are “against the extension of the Parliament’s mandate and with the formation of a political cabinet.”            

“A political cabinet is inevitable,” he said.            

While stressing the importance of forming a new cabinet to save the country from the its troubles, Abi Ramia noted that holding the elections is more important, revealing that tension in their relation with Speaker Nabih Berri was caused by the issue of the electoral law, not that of the new premier.                  

“We urge officials to implement the law by calling for a Parliamentary session to vote on the electoral draft law,” he said, stating that they are committed, until now, to attend the parliamentary consultations.
