Charbel: Deadline to submit candidatures set on April 17

Caretaker Interior and Municipalities Minister Marwan Charbel declared on Saturday that, in case the draft decree referred to the government’s secretariat general regarding the call to hold the parliamentary elections on the 16th of June 2013, instead of the 9th of June 2013, was signed, then, the ministry will issue a circular whereby the deadline to present candidatures will end on the 17th of April 2013 at midnight, instead of the 10th of April 2013.

According to the article 50 of the Parliamentary Election Law No. 25/2008, in case the afore mentioned deadline passed without any candidate submitting his candidature for a particular seat, the deadline shall be automatically extended for seven additional days, so that it will end on the 24th of April 2013 at midnight.
