"Safety Net for Buildings" urges government not to neglect at-risk buildings

More than one year has passed since the collapse of the Fassouh building; a catastrophe which may happen again should the government fail to implement the construction safety decree.

In this context, “Safety Net for Buildings” organization held a press conference whereby it warned against the dangers of neglect, given that at least 15 thousand buildings in Lebanon are under the threat of collapsing.

The organization tackled during the conference, the growing number of warehouses built in residential areas, which may increase the risk of fire incidents, as well as the absence of constant maintenance to a large number of bridges across the country. The conference also indicated that the construction of the majority of the buildings do not comply with the terms of public safety, leading to an increase of the risk of collapse.
