Jumblatt: PSP ready to resume dialogue in order to reach solution

The head of the National Struggle Front (NSF) MP Walid Jumblatt said on Monday that the Progressive Socialist Party and its leaders have been subjected to numerous “smear campaigns”, noting that the PSP will not respond to comments made especially in regards to caretaker Public Works Minister Ghazi al-Aridi.

“His career does not need to be defended,” he said.

In his weekly statement to al-Anbaa Daily, Jumblatt expressed his appreciation to the calm and moderate approach adopted by the Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam in holding his consultations concerning the formation of a new cabinet, stressing that the political parties must facilitate the formation process in order to lead the country toward a new political stage.

Commenting on the electoral law, Jumblatt pointed out that positive signs emerged indicating that an agreement may be reached over the hybrid electoral draft law, stressing that the PSP is ready to resume dialogue with all the parties in order to reach a solution and eliminate the “fragmentation project prevalent in the Orthodox gathering draft law”.

On the other hand, Jumblatt ruled out the possibility of coincidence between the Boston explosions and Syrian President Bashar Assad’s threats launched days earlier.
