REPORT: Doctors Syndicate “declares war” against beauty specialists

As the demand for plastic surgery grows, performing such operations is no longer the exclusive work of physicians, with a number of beauty centers providing beauty surgeries by so-called “beauty specialists” who do not hold any medical credentials.

Accordingly, the Lebanese Doctors Syndicate staged a movement in cooperation with the Health Ministry in order to put an end to such violations.

In this context, the head of the Doctors Syndicate Sharaf Abou Sharaf told LBCI that he called on the Ministry of Health to abstain from licensing cosmetic centers before receiving the approval of the syndicate, noting that the unlicensed centers will be legally prosecuted.

For his part, a ministry’s representative declared that the beauty centers will be banned from posting advertisements, pointing out that work is underway to license medications used by these centers.

Consequently, the Health Ministry introduced a hotline (1214) to report complaints about any violations in this field.
