REPORT: Saleh to LBCI: The hand to strike Jabal Mohsen will be cut

Residents of Jabal Mohsen headed on Tuesday to shelters upon the request of the Arab Democratic Party.

In this context, the media official of the Arab Democratic Party Abdul Latif Saleh told LBCI on that they have entered into the midst of the battle in Tripoli, and they will not withdraw.

“The hand that will strike Jabal Mohsen will be cut,” Saleh said.

This as sniping operations resumed in Tripoli killing the Imam of the Jihad Mosque, Abou Radwan al-Asmar in Bab el-Tabbaneh while heavy gunshots were heard in al-Mina region.

In this context, the secretary-general of the Arab Democratic Party, Rifaat Eid told LBCI that residents of Jabbal Mohsen did not open fire, noting that they will not respond to gunshots and will leave the Lebanese Armed Forces to deal with the issue.

On another note, a mortar shell landed in Souq al Kameh in Bab el- Tebbaneh during the clashes, while two persons from the Sekka family were injured in sniping operations.

This comes after the Lebanese Armed Forces completed on Tuesday morning its deployment plan launched at 6:00 am in Tripoli’s hotpots, in order to restore security in areas witnessing clashes in Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tebbaneh, where cautious calm has been prevailing since the early morning.

At dawn, clashes intensified in the area, injuring Jamal Abdallah Mrad and Ahmad Bilal al-Masri.

While the streets remained empty, official and private schools in Tripoli closed their doors, as well as the Lebanese University in al-Kobba and commercial stores.

Two LAF soldiers were killed and 6 were injured on Monday during an attempt carried out by Lebanese Armed Forces to enter Tripoli’s Bab al-Tebbaneh, noting that sniping operations were rampant as raids are being carried out by the LAF on Tripoli's Syria street.

As well, one civilian identified as Mohammad Rashid Sultan was killed on Tuesday, while two civilians were also killed with several others wounded in the 2 day old violence which struck the northern Lebanese city on Sunday.

Tripoli has been the scene of heavy clashes between Sunni's from the Bab al-Tebbaneh who support the Syrian uprising and the Alawites of Jabbal Mohsen, who support the Syrian regime of Bachar Assad.

In March 2013, a wave of violence left five people killed and 26 others wounded, including LAF personnel, in battles between the two areas.
