Franco-Lebanese businessman Takieddine accused of corruption and fraud

A French judicial source in Paris declared on Saturday that the Franco-Lebanese businessman Ziad Takieddine, who was arrested on charges of being involved in the "Karachi affair", was accused on Friday evening of corrupting a foreign employee and of committing fraud.          

On Thursday, French police seized Takieddine who is being probed in a political-financing scandal over suspicion of attempting to flee France.           

The source added that the businessman is banned from leaving France as investigations into the "Karachi affair" continue, saying that he paid $260,000 for a diplomatic passport from the Dominican Republic.             

The businessman is also accused of several scandals in France, some of which involve former President Nicolas Sarkozy.                  

Takieddine claims that he has proof that former President Sarkozy received illicit funds from Libya's former leader Moamer Kadhafi in 2007.                    

Takieddine is also accused of money laundering and corruption cases.
