Geagea calls for opening safe passage to transport injured from al-Qusayr

The leader of the Lebanese Forces Samir Geagea expressed on Monday his regret toward reports stating that hundreds of injured people are unable to receive appropriate treatment in Syria’s al-Qusayr, noting that this humanitarian issue cannot be disregarded.

In this context, Geagea called on the Lebanese authorities, "whose groups are wrongfully participating in al-Qusayr battles," to work on opening safe humanitarian crossings to facilitate the transportation of those injured to hospitals.

However, he added that the repercussions of some incidents and events taking place in Syria are far more volatile than any military intervention, urging all parties involved in the conflict to deal with the humanitarian side of the crisis, he said in reference to Lebanon's Hezbollah.

Hezbollah have been sending groups of fighters to Syria’s al-Qusayr where they are fighting alongside the Syrian army in its battles against the Free Syrian Army.
