Sehnaoui to Abdel Menhem Youssef: #FreeTheBandwidth, #FtahElHanafiyye

Caretaker Telecommunications Minister Nicolas Sehnaoui declared Friday that the internet in Lebanon is performing with half of its actual capacity, accusing the Ogero Director General Abdel-Menhem Youssef of hindering the work of the ministry and leading the state’s treasury to sustain a USD 500 thousand loss per month.

During a press conference, Sehnaoui noted that the economy and the internet speed are far more important that political calculations, noting that citizens are receiving roughly 25% of the packages they buy.

In this context, Sehnaoui said investigations have shown that there are at least 20 complaints filed against Youssef, calling on citizens to use social media platforms to lobby against Youssef [using these hashtags #FreeTheBandwidth #FtahElHanafiyye] in a bid to improve internet service across the country.
