Caretaker PM Mikati urges the swift formation of new government

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati reiterated on Friday that he will always play the role that gathers the Lebanese people, adding that no camp can eliminate the other.

He also urged the Lebanese people to spare Lebanon the repercussions of the Syrian crisis and to abide by the self-dissociation policy.

On the formation of a new government, Caretaker PM Mikati urged the swift formation of the government to deal with the security situation in the country.

Prime Minister Najib Mikati announced the cabinet's resignation on Friday March 22, after talks deadlocked over the extension of Internal Security Forces chief Major General Ashraf Riff's mandate and the formation of an Election Supervisory Committee.
