Mansour: Lebanon has never officially violated dissociation policy

Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour stressed on Wednesday that the Foreign Minister expresses the policy adopted by his country, noting that he has never once violated the dissociation policy adopted by the Lebanese government regarding the Syrian crisis.

In a statement to Voice of Lebanon radio station, Mansour said that Lebanon must not “turn its back on Syria,” noting on the other hand that contacts must be pursued through diplomatic means.

In this context, Mansour said that Lebanon refuses any intervention in Syria, pointing out that the country has been witnessing arms smuggling and gunmen infiltration to and fro for over two years, “but this does not mean that the government approves such activities.”

Commenting on the issue of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon, Mansour stated that the refugees have become one third of the Lebanese population and their number is fast growing, stressing that the Lebanese government is no longer able to bear this burden.
