REPORT: General prosecution approves suit filed by Lebanese Green Party

The General Prosecutor approved and referred on Thursday to the concerned authorities the complaint filed on Tuesday by the Green Party of Lebanon with the General Prosecution of Beirut against an unknown person, and whomever is found guilty as per investigations, of having caused any harm or damage to the state’s properties, mainly the marine properties.

In this context, attorney Elie Khattar told LBCI the lawsuit is based on official documents issued by several governmental institutions, mainly the ministry of public affairs and the Lebanese audit bureau.

Khattar noted that the audit bureau counted 1269 violations along the Lebanese coast between 1996 and 1997, adding that this number has increased significantly since then.
