MEA announces new procedures for all passengers arriving in Lebanon

 The Middle East Airlines announced on Tuesday new procedures for all passengers arriving to Lebanon.

The MEA said that starting September 23, 2020 the following procedures will be applied to all passengers arriving to Lebanon:

First: All passengers arriving in Lebanon: 

All passengers arriving in Lebanon as a final destination on Middle East Airlines must conduct a PCR test at one of the accredited laboratories by the concerned authorities in the countries from which they are departing within a maximum of 96 hours prior to the date of travel to Lebanon.

They also need to show the PCR test result at check-in counters. 

Passengers who do not carry a negative PCR Test result are not allowed to board any MEA airplane departing to Lebanon.

All passengers wishing to return to Lebanon on board of the Middle East Airlines, must fill out before boarding the form issued by Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health which is available electronically through the following link: https://arcg.is/0GaDnG .
 
Second: All passengers arriving in Lebanon from Egypt, Turkey and all African countries:

All passengers arriving in Lebanon from Egypt, Turkey and all African countries must perform a second PCR Test upon arrival at the Rafic Hariri International Airport.

They all have to abide by the in-home quarantine for 48 hours as of the date of arrival in Lebanon and until they will be informed of the PCR test result performed upon arrival at the airport.

An amount of USD 50 per passenger has been deducted from the ticket price; which is the cost of performing the required PCR test upon arrival at the airport.
 
Third: All passengers arriving in Lebanon from Iraq:

All passengers arriving in Lebanon from Iraq, except Lebanese nationals and foreigners residing in Lebanon, must conduct a PCR test upon arrival at the Rafic Hariri International Airport at their own expense. 

An amount of USD 50 per passenger will be added to the ticket’s price for conducting the required PCR test upon arrival at the airport.

All passengers arriving from Iraq, except Lebanese nationals and foreigners residing in Lebanon, must have a 72-hour prepaid hotel reservation at one of the following hotels approved by the Lebanese Ministry of Tourism at reduced prices:

Passengers who do not have a hotel reservation are not allowed to board a MEA airplane coming to Lebanon. 

Upon arrival in Lebanon they must stay in the hotel for 72 hours during which a second PCR test must be conducted.

If the PCR test result comes as positive, they will have to bear the cost of treatment within the Lebanese territory at their own expense.

Fourth: All passengers arriving in Lebanon from all other destinations:

All passengers arriving in Lebanon from tall other destinations must choose between: re-performing another PCR examination within a maximum period of 72 hours from the date of arrival in Lebanon at their own expense or committing to an in-home or hotel quarantine for 10 days from the date of arrival in Lebanon.
 
Fifth: All passengers who left Lebanon and returning within one week:

Passengers who have left and returned to Lebanon within one week, are not required to perform a PCR Test in the countries from which they want to return but must:

Passengers from Iraq, Egypt, Turkey and all African countries: 

Perform a PCR Test upon arrival at the airport.

Passengers from other destinations: 

Can choose between either performing a PCR Test upon arrival at the airport or within a maximum of 72 hours from the date of arrival at the Rafic Hariri International Airport at their own expenses.

Exceptions: PCR tests exclude children under the age of 12, UNIFIL and members of accredited diplomatic missions in Lebanon.
