Education Minister: Classes suspended in lockdown areas alone

In an issued statement on Sunday, Caretaker Education Minister Tarek Majzoub reminded responsible officials at public and private schools, high schools and technical institutes of the need to adhere to the following points:

- All educational institutions shall be closed in areas subject to lockdown under the decision issued by the Caretaker Interior and Municipalities Minister

- Schools falling in areas not subject to lockdown are required to contact the operations room at the Education Ministry on the hotline # 01/772186 in case of any reason for closure, whereby they will be referred to the Minister of Education for proper assessment and taking the appropriate decision

- All educational institutions are required to fully adhere to the health guideline and the decisions issued by the Education Ministry regarding classroom capacity and to immediately report any infected case among the schools’ students and the educational and administrative bodies, or workers in educational institutions (including bus drivers), in order to take the appropriate decisions after studying each case.

The Education Minister concluded his statement by underlining that “the exceptional health condition we are going through calls for concerted efforts of all components of the educational community, as well as full commitment to the decisions issued by the Education Ministry,” pledging that his Ministry “will work to ensure that its decisions are properly implemented and that legal measures are taken against violators."
