Hassan says Health Ministry is waiting before taking any decision about AstraZeneca vaccine

Caretaker minister of health announced on Wednesday that the ministry is waiting before taking any decision about the AstraZeneca vaccine, pending the decision of International health authorities.

Hassan’s comments were made during an interview with Voice of Lebanon Radio station whereby he noted that the ministry does not take any hasty procedure that might endanger the citizens’ health, especially that the vaccine is imported from the Covax platform.

“We were waiting for the first shipment of the AstraZeneca vaccine to arrive in Lebanon in mid-March, but the concerned company that respects its product has postponed delivery, which confirms that the issue is not commercial even from the source,” the caretaker minister added.

On another note, Hassan stressed that the private sector is seeking to secure the Russian and Chinese vaccines for private initiatives.”

“The ministry does not prevent such a thing, but rather encourages private sector companies and gave permission to negotiate to more than thirty pharmaceutical companies and drug warehouses, provided that the vaccine is provided to citizens for free,” he added.
