Eid Azar: Vaccine is not the only solution

Head of Lebanese National Vaccine Executive Committee Dr. Eid Azar revealed on Friday that the number of positive Coronavirus cases is on the rise by a large percentage: between 1% and 3% since the end of October.

Azar linked this rise to the infections with the new variant wave that entered Lebanon and was caused by the Delta mutation.

“Will the Omicron mutant, in turn, be an additional factor in the increase of these cases, i.e. entering a new wave?” Azar wondered in an interview with the Nharkom Said.

He also pointed out that the vaccine is not the only solution against the virus, noting that the countries that vaccinated their citizens continued to witness deaths, especially for those above 80, but the vaccine reduces death rates and hospitalization.

"After the increase in the number of coronavirus infections in Lebanon, the lockdown won’t be useful because the virus will have spread before, and therefore we will have reached the problem, not the solution," Azar added.
