Al-Assir: Hariri and Salam must establish Ministry of Humiliation and Shame for Sunnites

Former Sheikh of Sidon's Imam Bilal bin Rabah mosque Ahmed al-Assir said on Thursday that he is not the leader of the Sunnite sect in Lebanon, noting that "he will not stay idle facing injustice."

Al-Assir stressed that the first direct repercussion of the so called "peaceful resistance" against Hezbollah is the formation of an all-embracing cabinet which includes the armed party to cover its "crimes" both in Lebanon and Syria.

Al-Assir's comments were made via his Twitter account in which he said that former Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam must create a new ministry for the Sunnites named "the Ministry of Humiliation and Shame" amid the "hegemony" of Speaker Nabih Berri and Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, the "opportunism" of Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun and the "shiftiness" of National Struggle Front MP Walid Jumblatt.

Al-Assir is a virulent critic of the powerful Shiite group Hezbollah group, which along with its allies dominates Lebanon's caretaker government.

He supports rebels fighting to oust Syria's President Bashar Assad.

He disappeared during a shootout with the Lebanese army in the coastal city of Sidon last June.
