Former MP Hbous succumbs to gunshot injury

The state-run National News Agency reported that Former Tripoli MP Ahmed Hbous died on Thursday, after he was hospitalized for accidentally shooting himself more than one week ago.

Hbous, an Alawite, was handling his gun on July 30 when a bullet hit his face.

The former lawmaker underwent surgery at the Albert Haykal Hospital in the northern district of Koura the same day, however succumbed to his wounds on Thursday, the agency added.

Hbous was elected to parliament in 1996, representing the Alawite sect in Tripoli.
