Christian officials decide to suspend discussions pertaining to Orthodox draft law

Change and Reform Bloc Leader MP Michel Aoun, Marada Party Leader MP Sleiman Franjieh, Kataeb Deputy Sami Gemayel, Lebanese Forces Deputy Georges Adwan along with MP Alain Aoun, Former Minister Youssef Saadeh and Bishops Samir Mazloum and Boulos Sayyah met on Wednesday in Bkerke with Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bechara Boutros Rai.         

Following the meeting, officials announced that they decided to suspend discussions pertaining to the Orthodox Gathering’s draft law until consensus over a new law is reached.       

The officials also agreed that they will not submit their candidature on the basis of the 1960's electoral law, calling on caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel to reject all candidatures based upon it.
