Is there a serial killer on the loose in Beirut?

We seem to be seeing the same murder scenario over and again. Since late August, eleven people’s deaths have been linked in, what is being called, a string of serial killings.

All of the murders have been carried out late at night or in the early morning hours, most of them targeting taxi drivers and their fares. The victims died from a gunshot wound to the head and all of their belongings were taken.

Security forces now have a clear picture of how the murders took place: The murderer, or murderers, hail the taxi and enter the vehicle. The shooting takes place inside the taxi with a 7mm handgun, the bodies are dumped in a specific location and the car is set alight- destroying all evidence.

With the knowledge gained regarding the process of killing, security forces, especially the ISF information branch, intensified their investigation to catch the suspects.

Sources from the security forces told LBCI that these investigations have reached a “very advanced phase that will lead to actionable results”, but refrained from giving any further information for fear of aiding the suspects in their flight from justice.
