Public Prosecutor proceeds with lawsuit against tweep Jean Assy

         
Acting public prosecutor Judge Samir Hammoud filed a request Friday to the Appellate Attorney General to proceed with the lawsuit against Lebanese citizen Jean Assy on charges of defamation, libel and slander and undermining the reputation, and dignity of the President Michel Sleiman.            

Assy was freed on bail on Tuesday after the anti-cyber-crime office interrogated him for several hours.                           

He was called in for questioning for having tweeted some unfavorable remarks regarding Lebanese President Michel Sleiman.        

Assy told LBCI that interrogations focused on old tweets published on his twitter account reportedly attacking President Sleiman.                    

He appeared before the investigations unaccompanied by an attorney and has been placed under house arrest.              

His case is pending further investigation at the General Prosecutor Court of Cassation.
