Rai: Attacks against institutions are crimes against state

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai denounced on Monday the attacks against Lebanese Armed Forces in Sidon and other Lebanese regions, and considered them as "attacks against the entire Lebanese state."

Patriarch Rai called on the judiciary to reveal the identity of perpetrators and impose severe penalties against them “although some politicians are trying to distract judges from their duties”.

Patriarch Rai added that the clashes in Sidon and the intervention in the Syrian crisis are the result of disrupting the work of the constitutional institutions.

Rai concluded by saying that attacks against Lebanese institutions are crimes against Lebanese citizens and a crime against the state.
