Geagea: Cabinet dropped “self-distancing” technique at Arab League

Lebanese Forces Leader Samir Geagea received at Maarab a delegation from the American University of Beirut on Thursday.

Commenting on the results of the AUB elections, he said that the victory was the fruit of assiduous efforts deployed by March 14 forces, from Lebanese Forces to Future Movement and even centrists.

Geagea hoped that “this achievement will pave the way for more victories.”

The LF leader voiced regrets that politics influenced the university’s elections, saying “the other party neither knows how to lose nor how to win.”

Geagea fielded questions during his meeting with the delegation where he criticized Lebanon’s position at the Arab League. Geagea said, “Lebanon has always distanced itself from any Arab issue; the current government made up a new equation [of abstention] called ‘self-distancing’ that it had adopted during the Security Council’s voting. However, at the Arab League, it decided to drop this technique.”
