REPORT: Liwaa Asifat al-Chamal calls for exerting pressure on Hezbollah

Liwaa Asifat al-Chamal issued on Sunday a statement on its Facebook page in which it called on the relatives of the Lebanese detainees in Syria’s Aazaz to exert pressure on Hezbollah in order to speed up the exchange of the detainees for the women detained in Syrian prisons.                                              
“In a previous statement we said that the release of the detainees will be in exchange for the women detained in Syrian prisons; however, various months have passed; thus showing us that there is procrastination from ‘Iran’s party’,” the statement said.                                                              
The statement added that “shelling is intensifying on the Northern Reef of Aleppo; endangering the lives of the detainees”.                                           

In this regard, Liwaa Asifat al-Chamal urged the relatives of the detainees to exert pressure on Hezbollah to speed up the release of the detainees.               

For their part, the relatives of the detainees said that the aforementioned statement is “a threat to the lives of the abductees,” adding that the Lebanese side represented by major General Abbas Ibrahim and the Syrian side represented by regime officials are cooperating and ready to exchange the detained women.             

On Wednesday the 1st of May, Liwaa Asifat al-Chamal said that a mediation committee comprised of members from Turkey, Qatar, and Lebanese Muslim Scholars has been formed to exchange the release of female prisoners held in Damascus with the Lebanese hostages held in Aazaz adding that the names of these prisoners were handed to the committee.                                                

Liwaa Asifat al-Chamal confirmed that they do not have any problem with any religious sect, stressing that their main problem is with Hezbollah who is participating alongside the Syrian regime in the killing of Syrian citizens.                           

Eleven Lebanese pilgrims were kidnapped on their way back from Iran by insurgents hoping to use them for a prisoner swap on the 22nd of May. Only two have so far been released.
