REPORT: FIBA officially suspends Lebanon's Basketball membership

The International Basketball Foundation (FIBA) announced on Thursday that it has officially suspended Lebanon's Basketball membership until the local disputes are completely settled.

The decision will have bad repercussions on the number 1 game in Lebanon, and on the Lebanese basketball national team, sources said.

Sources also told LBCI that the Lebanese Basketball League did not receive any official letter from FIBA yet, noting that the freezing period has not yet been set.

The Lebanese basketball national team will hold a press conference at Beirut International Airport once it arrives from Taiwan on Saturday, where it had been participating in the Jones Cup tournament.

FIBA decided to suspend the local basketball federation, following failure to end internal judicial interferences, even after the league had been given a delay to solve its internal conflicts.

This means the team is now at serious risk of missing the chance to compete in the upcoming FIBA ASIA Championship in Manila next month.
