Man arrested on suspicion in the Masnaa Int’l Rd incident

The state-run national news agency reported on Tuesday that an intelligence unit raided on Monday overnight one of the houses in Majdel Anjar and arrested a person on suspicion of planting the explosive device that targeted Hezbollah’s convoy on the Masnaa international road.          

The NNA added that the arrestee, identified as A.H., is a Syrian national who hails from the city of Zabadani, Damascus Reef.                                       

On Tuesday the 16th of July, the national news agency reported that a bomb exploded at the junction of the Al-Azhar Mosque on the Majdel Anjar-Masnaa international road targeting a 4x4 runner with plate number identified as 259431/B. In this context, sources told LBCI the aforementioned registration number may belong to another vehicle, namely that of a Peugeot whose owner remains unknown.                                     

The NNA added that wounded persons were transported to the Chtoura hospital and were identified as Hussein Ali Deir, Fady Abdel Karim, and another person from the Al-Hujairy family.                             

Following the explosion, Lebanese Armed Forces cordoned off the site of the blast and mentioned that the bomb was remotely detonated.                     

Hezbollah convoys have been the target of explosions while en route to Syria with a similar incident taking place on both the 10th and 28th of June; however, no casualties were reported.
