Sayyed Nasrallah: EU's decision will not undermine Hezbollah's morale

The Secretary General of Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said on Wednesday that it is important that the Resistance garners the support of the people so it may defend them, adding that it has always been the main concern of various Lebanese, Arab, regional, and international factions.

In regards to the European Union’s decision of listing Hezbollah’s military wing on its terror list, Sayyed Nasrallah praised the stance of all officials, forces and political parties that denounced this decision and mentioned that he had been expecting it.

“Israel and the United States exerted pressure on EU countries to adopt this decision,” Sayyed Nasrallah said, stressing that Hezbollah is facing a union that abides by the will of Israeli and US officials.

Delivering a televised speech during an Iftar held by the Women's Committee of the Islamic Resistance Support Association, Nasrallah stressed that the EU’s historical records confirm that its decision is not based on evidence since it did not blacklist the Israeli army despite of the crimes it had committed.

Nasrallah added that listing the party's military wing on the EU’s list of terrorist organizations is an offense to the Lebanese government and to the people; however, added that it will not undermine the morale of Hezbollah.

“Countries that agreed on the adoption of this decision should learn that they are giving Israel a legal cover to attack Lebanon,” Nasrallah said, adding that the EU should reconsider its decision.

Sayyed Nasrallah mentioned that “officials in Hezbollah do not have deposits in banks”, and added that “the EU’s decision will not have any negative influence on Hezbollah since its main goal is not manifested in achieving an economic or business project, but in standing in the face of Israel.”

“He who considers that the Resistance that withstood the strongest army in the region for 33 days will be affected by such a decision is mistaken,” Nasrallah said.

As for the local files, Sayyed Nasrallah said that the new cabinet will not be formed without the participation of Hezbollah, and added in a cynical manner that “Hezbollah ministers in the new cabinet should be from the party’s military wing”.
