Mikati calls on Brazil to pressure Israel

PM Najib Mikati held talks with the Brazilian Vice President Michel Temer. Mikati stressed that Tamer’s visit to Lebanon shows the strength of the Brazilian-Lebanese relation, and the importance of enhancing it on the diplomatic, parliamentary and commercial levels. Mikati called on Brazil to exert pressure on Israel and compel it to implement resolution 1701 and all of the international resolutions.

For his part, Temer said he was very happy to be in Lebanon, adding that this visit gave him and the accompanying delegation the chance to get to know his home country closely, and launch an array of bilateral projects, especially in the commercial and cultural fields.

Among the participants in the talks, the Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Samir Moqbel, ministers Mansour, Abboud, Sabounjian, and Kheireddine, as well as the chairman of the Lebanon-Brazil Parliamentary Friendship Group MP Ibrahim Kanaan. Brazil’s ambassador to Lebanon Paolo Roberto Daventura and the accompanying delegation also participated in the talks.

Temer arrived in the Grand Serail on Monday afternoon. He was welcomed by Mikati, with whom he went up to the platform of honor at the sound of both the Lebanese and the Brazilian National Anthems played by the Lebanese Internal Security Forces’ orchestra.

PM Mikati and his wife held a dinner in honor of the Brazilian guest and his wife, in the presence of Ms. Randa Berri, the Lebanese and Brazilian delegations and other prominent figures.
