Body of man found at Al-Arida shore

The body belonging to the man killed on Sunday by the Syrian Army was found on Monday on the Al-Arida shore.

Members of the Lebanese Armed Forces, security apparatuses and Civil Defense rushed to the scene to inspect the body.

Meanwhile, the Directorate General of the Lebanese General Security announced that it will close off the Al-Arida crossing border in both directions as of noon today. 

Lebanese citizens and all commuters are kindly requested to use other border crossings until the end of the restoration works of the said station.

The Directorate added that the Lebanese General Security station is undergoing restoration works following the Sunday attack launched against the station.

The National News Agency reported Sunday that residents of the bordering town of al-Arida stormed the station of Lebanon's General Security after a Syrian man was killed in a nearby attack.

The Agency added that residents broke the windows of the base with rocks.

The man was killed by gunfire coming from the Syrian side while attempting to cross the river separating Lebanon and Syria. 

Residents also called for the Lebanese army to deploy in the area to protect the border.
