Shelling from Syrian side targets the Akkar town of Jenin

The state-run National News Agency reported on Friday that a house was damaged in the Akkar town of Jenin near the Syrian border from overnight shelling, noting that the residents of Jenin called on the Lebanese authorities to protect them.

Shelling from the Syrian side has also damaged other Lebanese border towns which have bore the brunt of the cross-border attacks.

This comes as a result of the fighting taking place in Syria between Syrian government troops and rebels seeking to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad.
