Mansour: We will not endorse any sanctions against Syria
Before his departure to Cairo to participate in the Arab foreign ministers meeting on the Syrian crisis, Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour revealed on Thursday that Lebanon will not endorse any economic sanctions against Syria for they will backfire on the country.

Mansour confirmed on Voice of Lebanon that this position is not that of the foreign minister only, it is rather the position of Lebanon and the Lebanese government.

“There is a ministerial consensus on this position for it serves Lebanon’s interest; our case is different from that of any other country since we share a distinctive political, human, economic and security bond with Syria.”

Commenting on the U.S. spying issue, Mansour explained that he will, at the request of the cabinet; look into the relevant information provided that the issue will be later discussed with U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly to determine facts on the ground.
