Patriarch Rai: "Arab Spring" cannot be achieved through war, violence

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai said Monday that Lebanon’s culture is not based on hatred, and divisions, but instead on peace, fellowship and love, adding that Lebanon is in a dire need to build its social and national relations.

During his visit to various towns in Jbeil, Patriarch Rai said Lebanese citizens should unite their efforts to face the repercussions of the Syrian and Mideast crises, stressing the importance of maintaining the national agreement between Christians and Muslims.

“An Arab Spring cannot be achieved through violence, war, terrorism, and displacement,” Patriarch Rai said.
