General Security media official: Lebanon prepared for any potential strike against Syria

Media official of the General Directorate of the General Security Brigadier General Mounir Akiki said on Friday that the task of the head of the General Security is to assist the President of the Republic and to submit reports suggesting solutions in order to help the political authorities in taking appropriate decisions.

Brigadier General Akiki's comments came during an interview with Nharkom Said TV show in which he noted that the head of the General Security Major General Abbas Ibrahim is "open to all political leaders", adding that the General Directorate fully cooperates with the Internal Security Forces and the Lebanese Armed Forces.

He also stressed that the number of Syrian refugees who entered Lebanon reached 600 000 persons according to the United Nations figures, adding that there are more than one million Syrian refugees registered as visitors and refugees in Lebanon.

Akiki noted that the Lebanese authorities took preventive measures in case of any military action against Syria.
