Sleiman on rocket launch: destabilizing the country

Speaking on the occasion of International Solidarity Day for Palestinian People, President Michel Sleiman said that the rockets fired into the occupied Palestinian territories do not benefit solidarity with the Palestinians.

Sleiman stressed that this incident destabilizes the country in the south and breaches resolution 1701, Lebanese law and international commitments. “These are pillars of Lebanon’s foreign policies and tenets of Lebanon’s relations with the international community, especially the United Nations”, Sleiman said.

Sleiman stressed that it is high time that the Palestinians enjoy security, stability and peace in an independent sovereign state, which is granted full membership of the UN.

Sleiman met with Health Minister Ali Hassan Khalil, Environment Minister Nazem al-Khoury and Information Minister Walid Daouk discussed the political situation on the eve of the cabinet session.
