Residents of Maallaka-Karak cut-off Zahle's highway

Residents of Maallaka-Karak cut-off on Saturday Zahle's highway to protest the kidnapping of pharmacist Wissam al-Khatib.              

On Monday the 30th of September, kidnappers of al-Khatib demanded a ransom of 1 Million USD in exchange of his release.            

The state-run National News Agency reported on Sunday, September 29 that unknown armed men kidnapped a pharmacist in the city of Zahle.                                   

The agency added that Wissam al-Khatib was abducted while he was opening his pharmacy located on the main road of the town of Karak.                                                                               
Al-Khatib reportedly escaped an attempt to kidnap him one month ago.
