Change and Reform bloc launches series of recommendations

The Change and Reform bloc said Friday that the most important constitutional obligation is the election of a new president, stressing the need to elect “a strong Christian president who will return the right to make decisions for the Christians in Lebanon.”

In a statement read by MP Ibrahim Kanaan following a closed meeting held at Bet Mery under the chairmanship of MP Michel Aoun, the bloc said that contacts will be launched with all the parliamentary blocs in order to kick off legislative work, adding that a new electoral law that guarantees fair representation must be passed.

The bloc also called for forming a new cabinet based on national partnership, pointing out that the issue of gas and oil exploration must be among the cabinet session’s priorities.

In the statement, the bloc listed a series of recommendations, where it called for improving tourism, creating job opportunities to reduce the migration of the Lebanese youth, setting up development programs to improve the situation of the disadvantaged regions and presenting a draft law concerning the armament of the Lebanese Armed Forces.
