Minister Charbel: Tripoli’s security plan hasn’t been fully implemented

Caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel said on Saturday that extending the term of the Lebanese President Michel Sleiman is better than reaching void at the presidential level.

As for the situation in Tripoli, Minister Charbel told Voice of Lebanon that Lebanese Armed Forces are carrying out their duties, pointing out that the situation in Tripoli differs from any other Lebanese region seemingly since there is an internal conflict that started more than 2 years ago.

In this regard, Minister Charbel said that Tripoli’s security plan is made up of two parts, emphasizing that the part related to setting checkpoints has been accomplished.

As for the second part of the security plan, Minister Charbel noted that it hasn’t been implemented yet; describing it as “complicated”.
