Suspects referred to concerned courts for kidnapping pharmacist al-Khatib

The Lebanese Army Command - Directorate of Orientation issued on Friday a statement in which it announced that the Intelligence Bureau referred to the concerned courts two suspects involved in the kidnapping of pharmacist Wissam el Khatib.

The arrested men were identified as: Lebanese nationals Hussein Ahmad Saleh and his brothers Doureid and Abdel Amir, and Palestinian national Mohammad Ahmad Omar arrested on 19 and 22/10/2013.

The investigations with the three men showed that they previously kidnapped Lebanese national Ali Ahmad Mansour.

This as, weapons were confiscated during the arrest, as well as funds paid by the al-Khatib family.

On the 29th of September, the state-run National Newsy Agency reported that unknown armed men kidnapped a pharmacist on Sunday morning in the city of Zahle.

Wissam al-Khatib was abducted while he was opening his pharmacy located on the main road of the town of Karak, the agency said.

On Monday the 30th of September, the kidnappers of al-Khatib demanded a ransom of $1 Million US in exchange for his release. Al-Khatib was released on Tuesday, 15th of October, the state-run National News Agency said.
