Mikati says LAF to take all needed measures to end violence in Tripoli

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati stressed on Saturday that the Lebanese Armed Forces and the security forces will take all the necessary measures to end violence in Lebanon's northern city of Tripoli.

"There is a political cover that aims at restoring calm in the city while the judiciary is holding accountable all those who undermine security,” Mikati said before his guests at the Grand Serail.

On the campaigns urging Mikati and Tripoli's ministers to leave office in light of Tripoli's incidents, Mikati noted that "everyone should assume its responsibilities throughout this critical phase," and said: "Leaving office complicates the situation and is an escape from responsibility".

This as, Mikati had followed up on the security file in Tripoli through a series of security meetings held at the Serail and had received acting Internal Security Forces Head General Ibrahim Basbous.
