Mansour calls on March 14 forces to trust him

Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour said that the March 14 forces are refusing his representation of Lebanon in the Geneva II conference due to political issues, stressing that the foreign minister has the right to participate.

Accordingly, he called on March 14 to “trust him since he has always believed that the Syrian crisis will only be resolved through a political solution.”

In a statement to LBCI’s Nharkom Said, Mansour declared that the foreign ministry is not affiliated with any party or any specific political faction, but it represents Lebanese policy determined by the government, pointing out that the Lebanese state has not interfered in Syria's internal affairs.  

On another note, the Lebanese FM said that the Geneva II peace talks will succeed only if the Syrian government and the national opposition both participate in order to end the crisis, noting that “Lebanon is paying a huge price by coping with the impact of the conflict.”

“Lebanon supports the peace talks since it seeks a political solution,” Mansour said.

However, he noted that Lebanon has not yet received an official invitation to participate in the international conference, stressing that, once invited; Lebanon will take part and will expose the Syrian crisis’ repercussions that are affecting the country’s stability.
