Pietton: French contingent will not withdraw from UNIFIL despite attack

French ambassador to Lebanon Denis Pietton assured that the French contingent will not withdraw from the UNIFIL, despite the fact that it was targeted by the blast that rocked the city of Tyre Friday.

In a press conference, Pietton condemned the blast that targeted French soldiers, members of the UNIFIL’s French contingent, calling on the Lebanese authorities to investigate the incident in order to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

Pietton refused pointing accusing fingers at any party before the investigation’s result is released. “It is not the first time that the French contingent is subject to an assault”, he said.
