Sleiman expresses gratitude to those who made Pope Benedict’s visit to Lebanon successful

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai called on Friday for the formation of a cabinet capable of bearing its responsibilities.

During the launching of a book that sheds light on the visit of Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI to Lebanon held at the patriarchal residence in Bkerke, Patriarch Rai reiterated his support to President Michel Sleiman saying that the latter is exerting efforts to hold the upcoming presidential elections on time.

Rai also expressed his support to President Sleiman’s call to hold national dialogue sessions, urging deputies to agree on an electoral law and hold the parliamentary elections at the soonest time possible.

For his part, President Sleiman, who received a copy of the book, thanked all those who contributed to the success of Pope Benedict’s visit to Lebanon, adding that Pope Benedict’s visit to Lebanon was historic.

Separately, President Sleiman is holding talks with Patriarch Rai in the presence of Cardinal Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir.
