UN's Plumbly reiterates support for Salam to form new cabinet

UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly said on Monday he had briefed Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam on the United Nations' current concerns since he will meet with the Security Council's members in New York next week to discuss UN chief Ban Ki-Moon's recent report on the 1701 resolution.

"Discussions were held with the PM-Designate over the program aiming to assist Lebanon throughout this critical phase by helping the Syrian refugees," Plumbly said following his meeting with Salam in Msaytbeh.

He reiterated his support for Salam in the formation of a new government, hoping that all parties will be united in order to protect Lebanon.

Separately, PM-Designate Salam had telephoned the newly-appointed president of Beirut Bar Association George Jreij  and congratulated him for his victory in Sunday's elections.
